Essential oil wax melts are scented wax pieces that you melt in a tealight burner to release fragrance. Unlike most wax melts which use synthetic fragrance oils, ours are made with 100% pure essential oils — real plant extracts that provide natural, genuine scent. Wax melts are generally considered safer than candles because there's no open flame near the wax itself — the tealight sits below a dish. However, you should always follow burner safety guidelines: use on a heat-resistant surface, never leave unattended, keep away from children and pets, and use 4-hour tealights only. Our full-size clamshells provide approximately 88 hours of burn time. This varies depending on your burner, the tealight used, and the size of the room. Essential oils can be more subtle than synthetic fragrances, so you may notice the scent evolving over time. Our beginner's guide covers burn times and getting the most from your melts.
We tested pure soy extensively and found it didn't deliver the scent throw we wanted, especially with essential oils. Our soy-paraffin blend performs better — it melts more evenly, releases scent more consistently, and gives you a stronger experience. We'd rather be honest about what works than follow trends. Essential oils are extracted directly from plants — they're the real thing. Fragrance oils are synthetically created to replicate scents, often stronger and available in scents that don't exist in nature (like "fresh linen"). We offer both on our main store at waxpop.shop. Place a tealight candle in the base of your wax burner, put a wax melt (or a piece of one) in the dish on top, and light the tealight. The heat gently melts the wax and releases the essential oil fragrance. When the scent fades, let the wax re-solidify and pop it out to swap for a new one. See our beginner's guide.
We're on a journey, but here's where we are: our glitter is biodegradable and plant-based, our wrappers are compostable, and our PP clamshells are recyclable. We use cruelty-free mica (certification pending from our supplier). We're always looking for ways to improve.
